The Big Silence: A series of evenings finishes this week. 26th June at 7:45 for 8pm in the Cabin.

There will be a Memorial service celebrating the life of Michelle Ellis this coming Wednesday 26th June 2019 at 9:15am at All Saints. Michelle was a member of the office team at John Mayne school, and is deeply missed by staff and children of the school. We expect all the whole school, together with many parents to attend. All are welcome.

As a consequence of the Memorial service, the Weds morning Communion service on 26th June will take place at 10:30am.

The Ashford Community Choir, directed by Karen Hill, are putting on a performance in St. Michael The Archangel Church, Smarden on Friday 28th June at 7.00pm. This ‘Harmonies for a Summer Evening’ programme will be for the benefit of FOSC and tickets are £5.00 and can be purchased on the door or from West End House Gallery. A bar and refreshments will be available in the interval.

The next Group Service will be held on 30th June at St. Mary’s High Halden at 11am.

In the afternoon/evening, all welcome to attend the Deanery Synod Annual meeting, 30th June 2019. 4pm St. Mildred’s Hall. 6pm Evensong St. Mildred’s Church. Guest speaker will be Sally Lees, the principal of Homewood School, Tenterden, speaking about the impact of the Apollos Trust.

Smarden Safari Supper, Sat 6th July. A safari supper (sometimes known as a progressive supper), is a dinner party whereby you move to a new house with different guests for each course. Everyone in the village is very welcome, especially new-comers, as it is a fantastic way to meet people. You do not need to be a master chef to take part, however you will be asked to provide one course for six or eight people. In Biddenden, we are building up our collection of mugs as we prepare for the Tractor Fest and other ocassions. If you have mugs to give away, please leave at the back of church.

On Saturday 13th July we have the Annual All Saints Summer Fete from 2pm which will have tea and cakes, raffles, games and music – come along for a fun summer day out. Volunteers are nneded to run stalls, set up, serve teas etc. If you can help, please contact Julie Lupton on 291658.

Alex has been appointed as Area Dean. There will be a licensing part of Evensong on Sunday 14th July 6pm at St. Michael church.
