DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

Eucharist BCP (8am Biddenden 2nd & 4th Sunday, and 9:15am Smarden 3rd Sunday) — A service of offering Holy Communion following the Book of Common Prayer 1662. It is a “said” service ie no hymns, a short sermon (or “thought for the day”) and lasts about 40 minutes.

Smarden’s Sung Eucharist CW (9.15am) — Communion service with hymns, a sermon. Children are welcome at all services, with activity sheets following the theme and readings of the day. The service lasts approximately an hour and is followed by coffee and tea.

Biddenden’s Sung Eucharist CW (9.15am & 11am) — Communion service with hymns, sermon and choir. Children are welcome at all services.The service lasts approximately an hour and is followed by coffee and tea.

Mattins BCP (Smarden:  11am on the 1st Sunday, Biddenden on the 3rd Sunday 9:15am in February, May, August, November.) — A traditional language service from the BCP (Book of Common Prayer 1662). The service includes a sermon and has musical support from the Benefice choir. Tea and Coffee follow the service.

Active Church (Biddenden: 3:30pm the Saturday preceeding the 3rd Sunday, Smarden: 10.30 am 3rd Sunday) — Adults and Children learn together through activities, games, stories, and song. Active church starts with with crafts, and games, at the end we gather, explain more fully the theme, sing songs, and pray. There are always refreshments and a play corner for very young children. Active church is a great way for parents or grand parents to have real quality time together with their children. All ages are welcome but you need to be prepared to get involved!

Morning Worship (9.15 am Biddenden 3rd Sunday) — Non Eucharistic services as advertised. Each month services vary and may use contemporary or traditional liturgy. For instance, in February, May, August and November the BCP matins liturgy is used.

Evensong (BCP) Evensong follows the Book of Common Prayer 1662. This service has hymns support from the benefice choir.

Families and Children:
Children are welcome at all services. We provide activity sheets following the theme and readings of the day.
